Research Grant for Post-Graduates & Drama Therapy Professionals

PURPOSE: The purpose of the Research Grant for Drama Therapy Professionals is to encourage research in the field of Drama Therapy.

ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for this Grant, the applicant must show professional experience in empirical testing and investigation utilizing standard and/or Drama Therapy measurement methods. If the applicant does not possess the expertise in drama therapy, they could partner with others possessing that expertise. Likewise, if the applicant does not possess expertise in empirical testing, but has expertise in drama therapy, they could partner with others who possess that expertise.

The research may be qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods. This research could be for a proposed new project or for refunding an existing project which shows promise.

While recognizing the importance of investigating the artistic processes and the aesthetic impact of Drama Therapy, the Grant Committee encourages research on the clinical process and/or demonstratable behavioral, attitudinal, and/or affective outcomes of Drama Therapy. If the Grant application is for artistic process or aesthetic impact research, it is the responsibility of the applicant to make explicit the linkage between the clinical process and/or behavioral outcome.

AMOUNT OF GRANT: up to $1,000 each 6-month application cycle.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: January 15 and July 15 of each year.

APPLICATION PROCESS:
Submit an Abstract of the completed/proposed research and a cover letter including the following information:
1. Basic Contact Information: Name, Address, Phone Numbers, Email, RDT Number
2. One-page description of your background, training, and experience in the field of research.
3. The problem/question your research addresses.
4. Demographics
5. The relationship and importance of your research to the advancement of Drama Therapy.
6. Detailed outline of methodology used or proposed including design, measures, and sample selection.
7. Plan for dissemination of finds (publication). If submitted or already in print, please include a copy.
8. Budget.
9. IRB approval from your institution.
